Video Game Massacre 4

It's been almost 4 years since the last Massacre and technology has made a big jump.  I spent the last 5 months working on this one.  The night before I was still working on stuff until 6:30 AM the next morning, then I woke up at 10:30 AM to finish up before everyone arrived.  I was in rough shape, but it was worth it.  Everyone got along very well and there were quite a few laughs along the way.  We played on the Playstation2, Playstation, Dreamcast, Atari 2600, Game Cube and Turbo Grafx 16 (emulated through the PC).  Things went pretty smooth because of the flow chart and the name tabs I made which helped to determine who fights eachother. Jill cooked hamburgers and hotdog's with a bit of help from Paul G so the players wouldn't starve (video gamers have been known to not realize that they are starving until their on the verge of passing out). We went through 60 cans of tonic, 1 and 1/2 bags of pretzels, 30 hotdog's and quite a few hamburgers. For snacks we had Warheads, Lifesaver mints and assorted candy.  I set up our Saturn system hooked to a monitor on our dining room table along with a big stack of games.  This was for people waiting for their turn in the competition. I was surprised how many people played it.  I'm glad you all had a good time and hope to see you all at the next Video Game Massacre. Please sign the Guest Book and give your feedback.  This will help us to make future events even better.  Enjoy the pictures below and see you at the next Massacre!

Thanks to Brian B and Melinda for letting us use their Game Cube, 4 controllers and Monkey Ball 2.  Also thanks to Jim P and Dave L for letting us borrow the Xbox, Halo and 4 controllers (Unfortunately we didn't get to play Halo until after the competition).  Thanks for the rest of you who participated and also for following the rules and keeping the place clean.  Thanks for respecting the others around you.  Hope to see you all some time soon.

Kris B, Billy J, Mike C, Addison, Brian B, Corey B and Jim B.

Mike C and Jim B playing Darkstalkers on the SEGA Saturn.
The skull and SEGA are a tribute to the final days of SEGA making consoles.

Billy J, Justin H, Mike C and Kris B playing Tetris 4D on the Dreamcast.

Brian B, Fro, Kris B and Mike C playing Time Splitters 2 for the Playstation2.
OK..... who picked the monkey???  He keeps shooting everyone in the shins.

Kris B, Corey B, Eric B and someone who got killed in Warlords on the Atari 2600.
Warlords was an incredible hit.  This will be in the next competition for sure.

Jim B, Eric B, Mike C and Fro playing Power Stone 2 for the Dreamcast.
Lots of laughs with this one, especially when everyone was falling through the sky
while beating the crap out of eachother.

Eric B and Brian B. Fro and Mike C in the background.

Jill H, Brian B, Fro, Eric B, Mike C, Billy J, Justin H, Jim B and Corey B.

Jim B reading Zobmonfo???

Fro..... I can't see the TV.

Rick K, Brian B and Dave L.

Laurell and Hardy got nothing on these guys.

Justin H fighting Fro in Mortal Kombat : Deadly Alliance for the Playstation 2.
Eric B was the only one who pulled off a Fatality (with Scorpion).

Paul G playing House of the Dead 2 for the Dreamcast.  Look out!  Damn,
got hit by that freaking chainsaw again! As the boss jumps down from above and slashes
you with his chainsaw.

The special kid in the group.

Brian B playing Kris B in Bishi Bashi Special 3 on the Playstation for the losers trophy.
This game was driving these two crazy. Truly one of the weirdest game out there. Little
girls jump roping, hurdles, javelin toss with road signs, a guy in a cat suit with a machine gun, moon jumping,
monkeys climbing stairs, a guy smashing his alarm clock, feet going into the correct shoes and a ninja jumping up
floors to get to the roof that ends in a firework finale.  What's so weird about that??  To these guys
it could've possibly been the most frustrating 10 minutes of their life.  To us it was the funniest 10 minutes of
the night.

Me handing Brian B the losers trophy. He won the golden poo award.

Ahhh! The sweet smell of victory! Who says losing stinks?
(place stupid joke here)

Me handing Rick K his winner trophy, the Atatri 2600 joystick
game system with 10 built in games and $65. He had a tie breaker with Fro and
played against him in Devils Crush for the Turbo Grafx 16 (emulated on the PC seen on the
TV screen to the left). Rick was such a good sport that he gave Fro $10 from his
$65 prize money.

These are the two trophy's I made. The winner trophy on the left and the loser trophy on the right. I've spent a long
time with these two..... and it was difficult parting with them. I'll miss them.
The Atari 2600 Joystick game system. This was the extra prize for the winner.  I got to pick
one of these up for myself.  Rick says he's been playing it since he got it.

This chart was worth the time I took to make it.  It worked so well I'm going to
use it for every competition from now on.  Plan on seeing it at all the other
Massacres.

Have a good one!
