Video Game Massacre 3
1999

This was a really crazy year because Jill and I had a Halloween party not too much after the competition and we were also trying to save up to buy a house and prepare to get married.  For some odd reason I haven't come across any photo's of that Halloween party.  Anyway, this competition was held on my Mothers porch again.  I strapped surround sound speakers in each corner, had a 100 watt subwoofer, 100 watt surround receiver and 2 200 watt (I think) tower speakers (thanks Paul G) to try to get the best sound.  It worked pretty darn well.  Explosions rumbled the whole porch!  We played on the Playstation, Atari 2600, Nintendo 64 (thanks Mike M & Scott C) and the new (at least in 1999) Dreamcast (thanks again Mike M).  Since I was doing embroidery at the time, I made the prizes.  I embroidered a hat, t-shirt and CD wallet.  They also got all the cash.  I don't remember how much they won though.  It went pretty well and we thought this would be the last one for a long time.  I think I may try to keep the competitions spaced about 3 years apart each.  Why you ask?  It's because the average game systems life is about 4 years.  After 3 years there will be at least 2 newer systems to play on.  We will always have our favorite systems and games that may show up each competition.  You got to have some type of familiar games your used to.  Also after 3 years you're bound to see some new faces along with the old ones.  I'll keep this tradition going and hope to see many of you there!  Enjoy the pictures.  For some reason there isn't a lot of pictures of the games.

Billy, Steve and me waiting for the competition to start.

Brian B (with his favorite glasses on), Brian's brother Eric B, Steve and Mike M
playing Destruction Derby 2 for the Playstation.

This is what happens when you stare at a TV screen for too long. Creepy!

Before the competition - Danny F, Mike M, Chris F, Steve, Jill, Me, Nicole M and Jim P.

Same as above... except I'm missing.

Me. Brian B in the background trying to explain something?

My brother Tom looking like he's telling Curtis to do something bad.

Mike M playing against Eric B in Gundam the Battlemaster for the Playstation.

Steve smiling because he's kicking the snot out of everybody.

Steve kicking someone else's butt.

Since it was in October we decorated the house with scary stuff. This looked pretty
cool because my mother was in the middle of removing the wall paper.

More creepy walls.

Steve destroyed everyone.... so he got his piece of fame being the winner of 1999.

Poor Curt... trying to recover from a brutal thrashing. See what video games will do to you!

Right after the competition Jill passed out in my room. She did bust her butt trying to
keep up with making sure everyone had enough food to eat just as she always does.
