Scavenger Hunt 1995

This was the first event we ever set up. It was pretty successful considering we only had 3 teams and we were new at this type of thing. For some odd reason as the night went on more and more people kept showing up just to hang out and see what was going on ( they didn't help any of the teams ). At one point there must've been at least 20 to 25 people in my yard ( Mom's house on Waverly Street ). The two things we kind of had a problem with was the food situation. Some of the people who said they were going to bring food never showed up, but our friends helped out by going to the super market while I cooked on the grill. We had everyone sign a form saying we aren't held responsible for any illegal activity any participants take part in ( to cover ourselves ) .... then we handed out the list and let everybody run off. Seeing each team come running down our driveway with a bunch of stuff in their arms was pretty funny, but then got down right sick when one group was carrying a large trash bag with a nice surprise in it ( see photos ). Brian B's team won with 707 points and got the cash prize. Rick H's team came in second with 614 points and Bert J's team had 556 points. The one thing no one got was our bonus item which was a silver pair of sneakers with red reflectors on them. After the competition Jill and I went to pick them up. When we got to the tree we placed them in they were gone! A few months later Scott C was hanging out with us and part way through the night he opened his car trunk and pulled out the silver sneakers! He said after the competition he saw them in a tree and decided to pick them up. Forgive us if our photo's aren't that great. The cameras we had weren't the best, it was dark out and money was short. Hopefully we will come across more pictures to update this section ( I keep finding more since we got married and moved ). Any event we have from now on will have much better pictures since digital cameras are much easier to come by now.
